Ahhh, back-to-school season. The smell of fresh notebooks, new shoes, lunchboxes that will mysteriously go missing, and…chaos. It’s a beautiful whirlwind, right?

If you're a mom trying to juggle early mornings, homework, snack prep, and bedtime routines—all while keeping your family’s mind, body, and spirit nourished—you’re not alone.

The good news?

Holistic health doesn’t have to be complicated or stressful.

Let’s simplify this together—with grace, joy, and a whole lot of Jesus.

  1. Start with the Morning Reset

“This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.” — Psalm 118:24

Mornings set the tone. Create a rhythm that feeds the soul before the chaos starts.

Holistic Tips:

  • Hydrate First: Warm lemon water before breakfast wakes up digestion and boosts immunity.

  • Faith First: A simple devotional or prayer together—5 minutes can anchor your kids in peace before the world pulls at them.

  • Protein-Powered Breakfast: Think eggs, smoothies with nut butter, or oatmeal with flax seeds. Fuel the brain and balance blood sugar (aka fewer meltdowns!).

  1. Lunchbox Love & Nourishment

You don’t need a Pinterest-worthy bento box. You just need real, God-made food.

Holistic Tips:

  • Include a protein, a healthy fat, a complex carb, and something fun.

  • Skip the sugar crashes—use local honey for a sweet treat or swap sugary granola bars for homemade energy bites.

  • Add a note with a Bible verse or encouragement. (Kids eat those up too!)

  1. After-School Wind Down

Kids come home overstimulated and HANGRY. Let’s help them land softly.

Holistic Tips:

  • Have a tech-free 20 minutes: Nature walks, puzzles, reading, or coloring. Lately, Grey has loved coloring! If you know my son, the fact that he stays still long enough to color is a HUGE win!

  • Create a calming “snack and chat” space. Serve fruit with almond butter or a smoothie, and just be present.

  • Diffuse oils like lavender or orange to shift the mood naturally.

  1. Movement That Feels Good

Movement is worship! It doesn’t have to be structured or perfect.

Holistic Tips:

  • Turn on praise music and have a 10-minute dance party after dinner. We love dancing like crazy to Forest Frank or Disney tunes.

  • Try simple stretches and affirmations before bed. (Comment for more information and I will message you about how we do affirmations!)

  • For you, mama: sneak in walks with a podcast, pilates during nap time, or a weekend hike. I LOVE watching the sun rise and set. It helps your nervous system and gives you energy in the morning and helps with your sleep at night. Isn't it beautiful how the Lord made the earth to help us settle?

  1. Faith-Filled Bedtime Rhythms

“When you lie down, you will not be afraid; when you lie down, your sleep will be sweet.” — Proverbs 3:24

This is when the house quiets—and hearts open.

Holistic Tips:

  • Read a verse or a Bible story together.

  • Pray with your children, over them, and for them—even when they’re asleep.

  • Magnesium lotion or an Epsom salt bath helps little bodies and growing brains settle. (We love putting Magnesium lotion on our "peet" as the boys call it.)

  1. Mama, Nourish Yourself Too

You can’t pour from an empty cup (even a cute Stanley or Simple Modern one). I mean, you can never have too many, right?!

Holistic Tips:

  • Plan your own lunch—even if it’s a 5-minute salad or bone broth with rice and greens.

  • Set phone-free zones and create small pockets of rest. (This is so important for our nervous system!)

  • Journal with Scripture prompts in the carpool line. Invite the Lord into your overwhelmed life and he will calm the crazy inside.

“She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come.” — Proverbs 31:25

Final Thoughts: Grace Over Perfection

Holistic health isn’t about doing all the things. It’s about doing the right things with intention, peace, and trust in God’s covering. If your child eats a donut for breakfast and you forget water bottles three days in a row, guess what? God’s grace covers you.

Your presence, your prayers, your heart—that’s what your kids remember.

So here’s to a school year full of health, joy, connection, and a whole lot of Jesus.

You’ve got this, mama. 💛
